In 1978 when I graduated from UPenn vet school there were no women Deans at any veterinary school.

The first woman Dean was Shirley Johnston. In 1998 she was the founding Dean of Western College of Veterinary Medicine, and she faced tremendous resistance to founding a new veterinary school with a unique method of training students.

In late 2005, Dr. Joan Hendricks became Dean of UPenn and she was referred to as the third woman Dean of a veterinary college. Who was the second? If you know, fill in the comment below.
